Mr. Donald Ray Parker, a caring, gentle man who touched so many lives and helped so many people young and old, had to leave us to go to a better place. Donald was born December 15, 1936 in Winston-Salem, NC to the late Walter Sanford and Gladys Whitaker Parker. He was a US Army Veteran stationed at Fort Knox, KY. Mr. Parker worked as a salesman with Winston Printing for 42 years and also for Biltmore Dairy. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church and was a member of Elk's Lodge #449. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge in for 45 years. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Jo Ann Parker Trent, and a brother, Robert Louis Parker. Survivng to cherish his memory are his wife of 47 years, Peggy Kreger Parker, who was the love of his life, a sister, Doris Parker Boyles of Winston-Salem and many nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be conducted at 2:00 pm Sunday, November 15, 2009, at Bethel United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. David Smith. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The Family will receive friends following the graveside service in the Fellowship Hall of the Church. Don loved his dog, Gizmo. Everywhere Don and Peggy went Gizmo went with them. The Parker Family would like to express a very special thanks to Dr. Norman Adair and the staff at WFUBMC for the care shown to Donald and the family. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is assisting the Parker Family.
