Donald Edward Marquis

Mr. Donald “Don” Edward Marquis, 87, a resident of Winston-Salem, went home to be with his Lord on February 9, 2025. He was born in Massachusetts to the late Hector Lewis and Miriam Smith Marquis on April 20, 1937. Don was a graduate of MIT and proudly served his country in the US Army Reserves. He had the IQ of a genius, a great smile, laugh, sense of humor, and a memory like a steel trap! He was a great conversationalist. Don loved Cashews, Rummikub, poker, his 1930’s car, people, and a good cigar. He will be fondly remembered by his friends at Brookdale Reynolda Road for making their day a little bit better with his quick wit. Don loved to spend time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his second wife, Sandy Marquis and Betty Jo Marquis; and an infant daughter who passed at birth.

Surviving are his daughters, Amy Kruezburg and Melissa Audier, both of New England; four stepchildren; thirteen grandchildren; a sister, Heather Stone (Don) of Salt Lake City, UT, and his very special person at Brookdale, Heide Ingram.

A memorial service to honor Don’s life will be held by the family at 2:00 PM Sunday, February 23, 2025, at Brookdale Reynolda, 2980 Reynolda Rd, Winston-Salem, NC 27106
