Donald Gray Lunsford

Mr. Donald Gray Lunsford, 73, passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born January 11, 1937 in Forsyth County to the late Lemly Jones Lunsford Sr. and Nora Franklin Lunsford. Mr. Lunsford was an avid bowler, loved bingo, and a Carolina Tarheel fan. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be greatly missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, Mr. Lunsford was preceded in death by one brother, L.J. Lunsford and one sister, Grace Ann Payseur. Surviving are his devoted wife of 42 years, Shirley Lunsford; one daughter, Charlene Morton and husband, Skip; one son, Mike Lunsford and wife, Yvonne; two grandchildren, Courtney and Katie Lunsford; four brothers, Ernest, John, Jerry, and Ronald Lunsford; one sister, Carolyn Shoemaker; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 16, 2010 at Crestwood Baptist Church with Pastor David Wood officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, January 15 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall.
