Donald Tilley

KERNERSVILLE - Donald Lee Tilley, 86, went to his home in heaven on February 10, 2021.  He was born July 15, 1934 in Guilford County to the late William Valner  and Mattie Geneva Stigall Tilley.  Donald was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church and a charter member of Piney Grove Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed gardening, and Nascar, but he got the most fulfillment from his family and always had a smile and kind words to share with others. He will be dearly missed.

In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by brothers Francis Tilley, Wayne Tilley; and sister, Betty Smith. He is survived by his wife, Edna Moore Tilley; son, Barry Tilley (Jeannie); daughter, Tammy Tilley McKinney (Wayne); grandchildren, Jonathan Tilley (Ali), Meredith Athay (Billy), Meagan Mitchell (Ben), Perry McKinney, and Katelyn Mitchell (Darren); great-grandsons, Emerson and Easton Tilley; brothers, Gary Tilley (Barbara), and David Tilley (Mary Ann); and sister-in-law, Edith Tilley; along with many nephews, nieces, great nephews and nieces. Due to public restrictions, there will be no formal visitation, but friends may view Donald and sign the register book on Saturday, February 13, from 12:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel. With masks and social distancing observed, a funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 14, 2021 at Union Grove Baptist Church in Oak Ridge.
