Mr. Donald ""Don"" Alfred Hutchens passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, November 22, 2015. He was born on October 12, 1937 to the late Fred and Mildred Ketner Hutchens. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Linda Bolden.
Mr. Hutchens was a member of the Church of Christ at Boyers Chapel. He was a retiree of R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, with 21 years of loyal service. Mr. Hutchens was also a veteran of the U.S. Army
Mr. Hutchens is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Shirley; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Ginger of Kernersville; two precious granddaughters, Hannah and Claire; his sisters, Marlene Hester, Jackie Driver, Janet Rhoades, and Judy Loftin; his brother, Eddie Hutchens and a special sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Tommy Myers.
The family expresses sincere appreciation to the following for their excellent care and compassion they always showed Don during his long and difficult illness: Dr. Robert Alsup, Dr. Anthony Kummer, Dr. Thomas Pulliam, and Greg Warren and the staff of the Radiology Department at Forsyth Medical Center.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm, Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at Forsyth Memorial Park with Mr. Joel Morris officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:30am until 1:30pm prior to the service at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
