Donald Ray Goad

Mr. Donald Ray Goad, 75, passed away Saturday, February 25, 2017. He was born May 12, 1941 in Surry County to the late Lucy Gravely Goad and William Mebane Goad. Mr. Goad was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Mt. Airy, NC. His favorite hobby was taking care of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Goad was a loving husband, father, PaPa, and father-in-law. In addition to his parents, Mr. Goad was preceded in death by three brothers: William Goad Jr., Buster Goad, and Carl Goad; and one sister, Geneva Hutchins. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Carolyn Sechrist Goad; two sons, Donald Keith Goad and wife, Diane and Ronald Kevin Goad and wife, Marie; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one on the way; two brothers, Raymond Goad (Eveline) and Gene Goad (Audrey); five sisters-in-law and their husbands; six brothers-in-law and their wives; and his best friend and buddy, Wayne Kiger (Marie). A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with Pastor Bobby Bullins officiating. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 noon until 1:30 p.m. prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to his wife, Carolyn.
