Donald Stenson Gaither

Mr. Donald Stenson Gaither, 89, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2016. Mr. Gaither was born in Tallassee, Alabama on March 18, 1927, to the late Thomas Wesley Gaither and Lizzy Mae Jones Gaither. Don served his country in the United States Army and retired from Western Electric. He was an active and devoted member of Ardmore Baptist Church as long as his health permitted. Don was active in the Pioneers and volunteered at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center for many years. He was an avid golfer and above all else, he enjoyed spending time with his grandson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Donna Gaither Harmon; a brother, Harold Gaither; and one sister, Louise Norwood. Don is survived by his wife, Carolyn Wilder Gaither of Winston-Salem; one son, Ken Gaither and wife, Carolyn of Winston-Salem; and one grandson, Grant Summerlin and wife, Jennifer of Chattanooga, TN. A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 17, 2016, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Ty Talton and Dr. Paul Mullen officiating.
