Donald Gray Burns

Mr. Donald Gray Burns, 65 of Winston-Salem, died Friday, August 21, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Burns was born May 26, 1944 in Forsyth County, a son of the late Raymond Lee Burns and the late Myrtle Fansler Burns. He was a retired security officer and was a longtime and faithful member of Lexwin Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Violet Simmons, and Louise Priddy, and brothers, Richard Burns, and Beverly Burns He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Judy Cox Burns, daughter, Donna Kiger and husband Eugene, son, Johnny Ray Burns and wife Penny, grandchildren, Kendal Anderson, Mark Hendrick, Amanda Hendrick, Brittney Hendrick, Candace Kiger, Matthew Bolden, and Corey Anderson, a very special great-granddaughter, Kailyn Kuppersmith, sisters, Janet Cline and husband Jack, Ann Tullock and husband Jimmy, Mary Shumaker and husband Kenneth, brothers, Kenneth Burns and Tommy Burns, a special nephew Ricky Burns and several other nieces and nephews. A Funeral service will be conducted 2:00 PM Sunday, August 23, 2009 at Lexwin Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Hauser, Rev. Eric Geoff and Rev. Harold Bassett officiating. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Saturday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care 101 Hospice Lane Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
