Donald Jerome Brennan, 67, of Winston-Salem, passed away April 26, 2014. He was born July 14, 1946 in Derby, Pennsylvania. He grew up in Fair Lawn, New Jersey and lived in Staten Island, NY, where he attended Wagner College and received his Bachelor of Arts degree. Upon graduation, he served in the U.S. Army. Don remained a resident of Staten Island for more than 30 years and was employed as a Director of Information Technology at OneBeacon Insurance Group, New York City, before retiring to Winston-Salem, North Carolina in 2002. He was an avid dog lover and had rescued and raised several collies throughout his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Mildred Brennan, Ph.D., who taught mathematics in New Jersey and Dr. John J. Brennan, Ph.D., who taught educational psychology at Wagner College, and his brother, Jack. Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Maryann Brennan; one sister, Millie Berman and her husband, Donald; two nephews, Mark Berman and James Berman; three cousins, Robert Gilmore, Martin Dinsmore and Sister Catherine Brennan, SSJ; one brother-in-law, Reuben John MacBride, Jr. and his family; and his beloved Collies, Leo and Sheba. A small family and friends gathering to celebrate his life is planned for May 2, 2014. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to: Collie Rescue of the Carolinas, Jean Smith, P.O.
