Don Hollingsworth Bennett

Mr. Don Hollingsworth Bennett, 85, passed away February 19, 2016 at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, N.C. He was born August 14, 1930 in Stokes County, to the late Paul Dewey Bennett and Clarice Holland Bennett. Don was a retired RJ Reynolds employee of 38 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Stanleyville and was an active member in the senior choir. He had a patriotic heart for his country and helped many people through various charitable organizations. He enjoyed life through his family and hobbies including horse shoes, fishing, and bowling. Don was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and will be missed by all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shelby G. Bennett of 52 years. He is survived by his daughter, Debbie (Greg) Caudle of Germanton; son, Worth (Carla) Bennett of Pilot Mountain; three grandsons, Kyle (Charla) Caudle of Winston-Salem, Caleb Caudle of Winston-Salem, Austin Bennett of Pilot Mountain; granddaughter, Haley Bennett of Germanton; great-granddaughter, Kyla Caudle of Winston-Salem, brother, Shirley ""Shorty"" (Brenda) Bennett, and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Hayworth-Miller Chapel, Rural Hall with Pastor Eddie Honeycutt officiating. Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall, NC. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
