Mr. Dolphus Alfred Jenkins, aka D. A. Jenkins, 97, of Winston-Salem died Thursday, September 5, 2013 at his home. He was born November 19, 1915 in Cabarrus County, the son of the late, Daniel Arron and Lavada Armstrong Jenkins. Mr. Jenkins served on the Locust town Council and was a Deacon at The Locust Baptist Church. After moving to Winston-Salem, he was a member of Faith Missionary Alliance Church. He drove a bus and was a dispatcher for Queen City Trailways Bus Company and was retired from the City of Winston-Salem. Survivors include his wife of 77 years, Hyacinth Helms Jenkins of the home; three sons, Larry Jenkins and wife, Carole and Charles Jenkins and wife, Brenda of Winston-Salem and Richard Jenkins and wife, Nancy of Monroe, GA; two grandchildren, Debbie Linville and husband, Mark of Winston-Salem, Kimberly Sen and husband, Ru of Orlando, FL; four great grandchildren, Elizabeth Linville of Rural Hall, Andrew Linville and wife, Mallory of Lewisville, and Jacob Sen and Lily Sen of Orlando, FL; one step granddaughter, Amy Gardner and husband, Steve of Winston-Salem and one step great grandson, Eric Gardner of Winston-Salem. The funeral service will be conducted Sunday at 3:30 PM at Faith Missionary Alliance Church with Rev. Mike Gates officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church from 2:00 PM until 3:15 PM.
