Diane Hanagan, 61, of Winston-Salem passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. She was born September 13, 1947 in Monroe, Michigan to Walter and Dolores Quell Tykoski. Ms. Hanagan was employed with Forsyth County for 21 years with WIC and Tax Collections, and was also employed with Forsyth Medical Center. She was an avid animal lover and she was loved by her many friends and co-workers. She was preceded in death by her parents. Surviving are one daughter, Leslie Anne Thorne and husband Michael of Raleigh; two beloved grandsons, Samuel Thomas and Jackson Henry Thorne; a special friend, Wayne Clodfelter and his grandson, Brandon King of Winston-Salem; a sister, Michelle Roberts of Monroe, MI; and her ex-husband, Richard Earl Hanagan of Raleigh. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 20 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Chaplin Randy Hillman officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service and then at her daughter, Leslie Anne and Michael Thorne's home in Raleigh from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to SPCA, 200 Petfinder Lane, Raleigh, NC 27603 or Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
