Dewey David Davidson joined our savior on Thursday, July 1, 2010 at 2:00 AM. He was welcomed into heaven by his sweet, special daughter, Debbie, with her beautiful sunshine smile, who preceded him in death on November 11, 2009. He was born in Asheboro NC, to Walter and Hettie Davidson on September 4, 1927. At the age of two, after losing his father, he and his three brothers were placed in the Junior Order Home in Tiffin OH. In 1940 the NC orphans were transferred to the newly opened Junior Order Home in Lexington NC. Dewey served as a medic in WWII in the South Pacific. He graduated with a B.S. in History, Math and Physical Education from Appalachian State University. His career included teaching and coaching all sports in Statesville, Albemarle, Lansing, West Jefferson and Dalton Jr. High School in Winston Salem NC. Dewey was loved by his many students and friends for his kindness, wit and humor. He served as an elder at St. John's Lutheran Church for many years. He was preceded in death by his youngest brother, Herb Davidson of Merced, CA. He is survived by his wife Jane of fifty six years; son Don and wife Sonia; grandchildren, Brittni and Ryan from High Point. Also a special foster son, Thanh Ngo and family Thich and son Vinh from Cary. He is survived by brothers, Gurney Davidson (Grace), from Greenwood IN, Curtis Davidson (Frankie) from Decatur GA; and sister in-law Mary Davidson of Merced CA. Also, nieces and nephew, Dollene Davidson, Christine Berman, Ellen Winters and JoAnne, Kathy, and Billy Davidson. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 2, 2010 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Services will be conducted at St. John's Lutheran Church on Saturday, July 3, 2010 at 11:00 AM, with the Pastor Philip McLain officiating. A committal service will follow at 3:00 PM at Ashelawn Memorial Cemetery in Jefferson NC.
