Dewey Young 'D.Y.' Averette, III

MocksvilleMr. Dewey Young ""D.Y."" Averette, III, 66, passed away at his home on Friday, July 19, 2013. He was born in Granville County, NC to the late Dewey Young Averette, Jr. and Mildred Sims Averette. Mr. Averette was a member of Providence Baptist Church but was attending Ijames Baptist Church. He served his country in the Army National Guard. Surviving is his wife, Peggy Averette of the home; two sons, Brandon Averette (Danetta) of Lincolnton, NC and Craig Averette (Holly) of Huntersville, NC; two grandsons, Logan and Harley Averette; siblings, Sylvia Martin of Lumberton, NC, Faye Averette of Durham, NC, Charles Averette (Emma) of Butner, NC, Nancy Averette (Hassel) of Roxboro, NC, and Amy Autry (Scott) of Stem, NC; also surviving are several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, July 21, 2013 at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel with Rev. Alex Heafner officiating. Burial will follow at 4:00 PM Rowan Memorial Park in Salisbury. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Ijames Baptist Church, 1038 Ijames Church Road, Mocksville, NC 27028.
