Denny Crutchfield

Mr. Denny “Roger” Crutchfield, 91, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at Hospice Home of High Point. Roger was born on June 1, 1930, in Guilford County to Jeremiah Holt and Martha Walker Crutchfield. He was a graduate of Oak Ridge Military Academy. Roger worked on the family dairy farm until 1970 when he started Crutchfield Grading and Hauling. He was a faithful member of Shady Grove Wesleyan Church where he taught Sunday School for 22 years and was a member of the choir. He was also the former Superintendent of The Sunday School. Roger was also a member of the Gideons. He enjoyed baseball, especially the St. Louis Cardinals. Roger also loved tractors and traveling to the mountains. He was a humble man of integrity and a man of few words. Roger was completely devoted to his family and his church. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.

He is survived by his loving wife Kathleen “Kay” D. Crutchfield; three daughters, Kathy C. Miller (husband, Terry) of Greensboro, NC, Dawn C. Johnson (husband, Tony) of Bahama, NC, and Patty C. Triche of Colfax, NC; two stepsons, Adrian Coldren of Columbus, OH and Justin Coldren of Oak Ridge, NC; six grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; and a special niece and nephew, Dianne Yates and J.T. Crutchfield.

A funeral service for Roger will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at Shady Grove Wesleyan Church with Pastor Phil Kirkman officiating. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shady Grove Wesleyan Church Cemetery Fund at P.O. Box 98, Colfax, NC 27235 or to Hospice of the Piedmont at 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the Crutchfield family.
