Dennis “Dinky” Eugene Shelton, 70, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 18, 2023. He was born in Rockingham County on December 6, 1952, to the late Irvin Jones Shelton and Sally Carter Shelton. Dennis was a man of simple pleasures. He enjoyed the little things in life, including fishing and playing horseshoes. You would always find Dennis somewhere outside, especially on a warm day. He enjoyed watching sports, most notably NASCAR races. Most of all, Dennis had an extreme love for his family. His grandchildren were the apple of his eye. He will be missed by those who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Doretta Pruitt, and brother, Nathan Shelton.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Vicky Shelton; four children, Angela Courts (Darrell), Lee Williams, Nicole Skelding (Rodney), and Joe Shelton (Amanda); eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters; four brothers; as well as many extended family members.

A memorial service will be held from 2:00 PM-4:00 PM on December 2, 2023, at Antioch Church in Belews Creek. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Home of High Point at 1803 Westchester Dr, High Point, NC 27262, or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital at 2101 Rexford Rd #165W, Charlotte, NC 28211, or Project Re3 Hope Center at 3801 Old Hollow Rd, Kernersville, NC 27284. Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
