Mr. Dennis Lee “Butch” Satterfield, age 72 of Winston-Salem, passed away Thursday, September 27, 2018 at his home. He was born August 4, 1946 in Forsyth County to Ray Dennis Satterfield and Ruth Addertion Satterfield. Butch attended RJ Reynolds High School where he was an all-state and all-American football player, helping lead the team to a State Championship. He was a member of Piedmont Aerospace Institute's first graduating class in 1968. An electrical engineer by trade, Butch worked and retired from RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company. A wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, he was also a generous and experienced football and track coach, as well as a faithful servant to Bethel United Methodist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother-in-law, Frank Mabry and his High School sweetie, Jean Poley Satterfield whom he married on June 5, 1966. He is survived by his daughter, Georgianne Satterfield Hartline and husband Mark of Troutman; two grandchildren, Zachary K. Jones and Savannah P. Hartline; a sister-in-law, Ann “Sisco” Mabry of Lewisville; his favorite niece, Teri M. Ingram and husband Mike; his two favorite great nephews, Jonathan F. Ingram and Christopher M. Ingram; one great-great nephew, J. Briggs Ingram and Papa Butch’s special girl, Lauren Allen. A celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at Bethel United Methodist Church by Rev. Lisa Tanico and Rev. Georgianne S. Hartline. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church, 2170 Bethel Methodist Church Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. The family would like to thank the following people for being the hands of Christ for Butch, the staff of Duke Cancer Center and especially Dr. Betsy English and her staff.
