Mr. Dennis Wade Key, 80, a resident of Winston-Salem, went home to be with his Lord Friday, July 19, 2024 at Trinity Elms Nursing and Rehab in Clemmons. Dennis was born on September 24, 1943, to the late Wade Augustus and Lacy Mitchell Key in Baltimore, Maryland. Dennis owned and operated Kater King for many years. During this time, he met so many wonderful people who made a lasting impression on his life. Dennis never met a stranger and would always take the time to help anyone in need. He possessed a generous and selfless spirit; to know him was to love him. Dennis was an avid sports fan, specifically the Carolina Tarheels. He was a renowned bowler and an accomplished Golfer. Dennis was a wordsmith and a spelling bee champion. He would often read the Dictionary and the Encyclopedia from front to back just for fun. He also enjoyed listening to Elvis Presley. When he was able, Dennis enjoyed hiking with his wife, Lynn. Theres so much we could say about Dennis and his accomplishments, however above everything, he was a man who loved his family immensely. He often spent time with his wife and children on many adventures throughout his life. However, Dennis had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren. He always made sure to spend as much time as possible with them. He truly was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Roger Dale Key.
Dennis is survived by his wife and best friend of 38 years, Lynn Key of the home; his children, Neal Lang, Ashlyn Allen (Brad), and Alex Key (Tiffany); grandchildren, Ethan, Hannah, Hailey, Jacob, Sophia, Paisley, Penelope, and Parker. He is also survived by special cousins, Betty Sue Lewis and Cathy Hamilton.
