Mr. Delmer “Del” Ray Amburn, 64, passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at Universal Healthcare of King. Del was born on August 19, 1959, to the late Ray and Lucille Amburn in Winston-Salem, NC. He attended North Forsyth High School and then Western Carolina University earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering. He worked in rental properties and real estate alongside his dad for many years. Del was an avid hunter and fisherman, loved animals of all kinds, and the outdoors. He loved to brag on his daughter and show off his grandchildren. He loved being “Grandpa” and showing them how to play pool and sharing his love of animals with them. In addition to his parents, Del is preceded in death by his wife and love of his life, Karen Brown Amburn. He is survived by his daughter, Leah Amburn Mabe and her husband Daniel “Squirt” Mabe; two grandchildren, Ellie Mabe and Connor Mabe; several cousins; and a host of friends. A visitation will be held from 6:00pm until 8:00pm Sunday, August 4, 2024, at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel. The family would like to thank Universal Healthcare and their staff for the kindness and great care that was shown over the past year. In lieu of flowers or donation, please consider taking a walk in the woods, grill yourself a big steak, and listen to some good music. That’s what Del would have wanted.
