Mr. Delmar "Tip" Lawson, 82, of Walkertown, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2018 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Mr. Lawson was born on November 22, 1935 in Surry County to Walter and Bertha Eaton Lawson. Mr. Lawson was of the Baptist Faith and attended Freedom Baptist Church in Rural Hall prior to his extended sickness. He retired from The North Carolina Department of Transportation with many loyal years of service. Tip also enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing rook and working every summer in his garden. Mr. Lawson was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Wallace Lawson; one sister, Evangeline Tickle; a grandson, Tuff Johnson and three brother-in-laws, Allen Evans, Arvel Evans and Marshall Evans. Mr. Lawson is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Shelby Evans Lawson; one son, D. Todd Lawson, and wife Tracie of Kernersville; a sister-in-law, Carolyn West and husband Bill; five grandchildren, Brooke Johnson, Brandon, Mason, Savannah, and Bella Lawson; three great grandchildren, Reese Lawson, Annabelle, and Sadie Johnson; one brother, Junior Lawson and two sisters, Ferndale Callaway, and Francis Collins and husband Riley. A funeral service will be conducted Tuesday January 9, 2018 at 12: 00 P.M. at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with Rev. Jon White officiating. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 10:45 am - 11:45 am prior to the service.
