Dellyn Meck

Dellyn Kight Meck’s love for life was obvious for anyone that knew her and her smile was unforgettable. She passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 in Winston Salem surrounded by her family.

Dellyn completed her Bachelor’s degree at the University of Georgia. Although she later moved to North Carolina, she took the love of the Georgia Bulldogs with her. If you knew Dellyn, you knew she was a dawg fan. She looked forward to football season and would try to convert anyone in need of a home team.

Dellyn had a lifelong love affair with fashion, she was chic and transcended style genres. There was no occasion she wasn’t prepared for and her style was one to be admired. While her love of fashion was evident early on, the one true love of her life came a little later. She married Sonny Howard Meck and the love they shared was evident to anyone who knew them. They would talk of special heart strings that connected just them. They shared a love of adventure and traveled all over the world. They were soul mates.

She loved her grandchildren, Emerson Ann Welch, Carter Franklin Welch, Shea Matthew Kight, Hayley Noel Jenkins and Samuel Garrett Jenkins. She lived for time spent with family and relished in the idea of doing anything her grandbabies wanted. You would find her on the floor coloring or being the canvas for a young makeup artist.

Dellyn Kight Meck, 67, was the daughter of William Basom and Edna Basom, born in Athens, Georgia. Dellyn is survived by her husband, Sonny Howard Meck, her children Matthew David Kight and wife Tara, Jaime Dellyn Welch and husband Jason, Molly Meck, and her sister, Dee Pickett.

Dellyn was a fighter. She suffered a stroke 9 years previously and fought her way back from speech and mobility impacts. Her family is grateful for the incredible, contagious joy she brought into our lives and will forever look to her for strength, optimism and positivity.

A private memorial service will be conducted at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
