Della Andrews Lawson, 88, went to be with the Lord on January 3, 2015, at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born March 16, 1926 in Forsyth County to the late Marion A. Andrews and Mabel L. Andrews. She graduated from Old Town High School, where she enjoyed playing on the basketball team, and Draughon's Business College. She retired from Western Electric Co. after more than 32 years of service. Throughout her life she enjoyed traveling to spend time with family and friends, playing the piano, crocheting and dozens of other handcrafts. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Ralph Carlton Lawson; brother, M.A. ""Rock"" Andrews; and adoptive son, Bill Knouse. She is survived by her beloved son, Stephen Craig Lawson and wife, Terri, of Madison; three grandchildren, Jodie L. Travis of Clemmons, Chris Lawson of Bethesda, Md., Kevin Lawson of Cary; three great-grandchildren, Amber Travis of Summerfield, Makayla Moore and Jayden Lawson of Clemmons; sisters, Edith Hunter, and Clara Edmonds (Jay); adoptive children Joe and Jane Knouse; numerous nieces, nephews and special friends; and much loved poodle, Dee-Dee, who was her loyal bed-buddy. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Brett Kitko and Rev. Jennings O'Neil officiating. Entombment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
