Debra "Debbie" Morris

Debra “Debbie” Sue Reavis Morris, 66, of Winston Salem, NC passed away at Forsyth Medical Center on January 13, 2022. She was born on May 11, 1955, to Ollie Thomas Reavis and Frances Woodruff Messick in Forsyth County, North Carolina.

Debbie was a very hardworking and loving woman. Her service was chosen to be on Wednesday because that was Debbie's day. Every Wednesday she was either spending time with her grandchildren or doing something for others. There were two things that Debbie loved more than anything and that was her family and caring for others. There wasn’t a single day you didn’t find her going out of her way to help or care for someone. Debbie also loved her dog Lucy and her dog boo, who preceded her in death. She enjoyed visiting Myrtle Beach, as she camped for many years at Myrtle Beach Campgrounds with her family in her free time. She also spent many years as a faithful disciple of the Good Lord and lived her faith.

During her last high school years, she attended beauty school and learned to be a very good hairdresser. She worked for many years in someone else’s beauty shop, until she finally opened her own creatively and beautifully decorated “Debs” Beauty Shop on May 9th, 2017. It was a dream come true for her. Many ladies became family, not just customers. She even furnished transportation to and from the shop for those who were unable to drive.

She is preceded in death by her brother; David Eugene (April) Reavis, and her father; Ollie Thomas Reavis.

Debra is survived by her loving husband; John Morris, her son; Jason Messick, daughter; Jamie Oswell, grandchildren; Lacy Messick, Madisyn Messick, Jayson Messick, Cooper Oswell, and Harper Oswell, her brother; Tom Reavis, her mother; Frances W. Messick, and stepfather; Dickie Messick.

A celebration of life will be held on January 19, 2022, at 4:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cancer Services of Winston-Salem, 3175 Maplewood Ave, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
