Debra "Debbie" Ann Miller Sloan

Debra “Debbie” Ann Sloan (Miller) passed away peacefully, after a long illness, in Winston Salem, North Carolina at the age of 59 on December 11, 2023. Debbie was born on November 20, 1964, in Oak Hill, West Virginia. Debbie loved being a small-town girl and a big sister, but her greatest love was being a mom and a mimi. She is survived by her loving husband, Joe Sloan; their two children, Joey Sloan, and Maria Boone; three beautiful grandchildren, Noah, Levi, and Fiona Boone; and her brother, Frankie Miller. Joe and Debbie married on June 2, 1986, before moving to Orlando, FL and subsequently Pfafftown, NC, where they settled to raise their children. Debbie loved being a mom. Once her children reached school-age, to ensure she could be home with them in the afternoons and summers, she chose a career in the school systems. She worked as the food service supervisor at Old Richmond Elementary until her passing. Debbie enjoyed taking pictures and did so every day, always seeing the beauty in every moment. She will be remembered for her strength, resilience and dedication to her family and friends. A memorial service for Debbie will be held at 12:00 PM Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Doug Klein officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is assisting the Sloan family.
