Debby Angel Pegram

Kernersville – Mrs. Debby Angel Pegram, 71, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. She was born in Forsyth County on November 11, 1953, to Joe Glenn and Mary Ann Veach Angel. Debby was a graduate of East Forsyth High School and Appalachian State University. She taught at both Cash Elementary and Piney Grove Elementary Schools for 38 years. Debby was a huge help in opening both of those schools. She was so loved by all of her students and fellow staff members over the years and she returned that same affection. Debby was a lifelong member of Morris Chapel United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School, helped with Bible School, and was a member of the Jane Morris Circle. She enjoyed “glamping” and traveling with friends and family. Debby loved the outdoors, often gardening and displaying “yard art” at their home. She was vivacious and energetic and was also a talented and creative decorator. She displayed those talents every holiday or season. Debby was known for her collection of shoes, jewelry, and anything that sparkled. Her family was her world, joy, and life. Debby was a loving wife, mother, Mimsy, sister and friend. She will be tremendously missed by all that knew and loved her.

Debby was preceded in death by her parents.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of almost 50 years, Steve Pegram; two children, Brandon Pegram and Gretchen Cox (husband, Patrick); four grandchildren, Harper, Hayden, Lila, and Piper; her sister, Denise Verdinek (husband, Bob); and numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she loved dearly.

A funeral service for Debby will be held at 3:00 pm on Monday, January 20, 2025, at Morris Chapel United Methodist Church with Pastor Jeff Coppley and Samantha Wesley officiating. A private burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 pm until 2:45 pm prior to the service in the Family Life Center at Morris Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Debby’s name to the following organizations supporting her love of helping children; Morris Chapel United Methodist Church Backpack Ministry, No Kid Hungry, or Sleep In Heavenly Peace.
