Deacon Kermit Marshall Bailey

Deacon Kermit Marshall Bailey, 74 of Greensboro passed away Friday, May 28, 2010 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital. Mr. Bailey was born April 13, 1936 in Davie County, and was a graduate of Guilford College. He retired from IBM Corp. and was the founder, and executive director of the Triad Disability Advocates Inc. Mr. Bailey was an ordained Deacon of the Episcopal Church and will be remembered for his tireless advocacy for the less fortunate. Surviving to cherish his memory are a daughter; Emma Bailey McAdams and her husband, Dr. H. Page McAdams; a son; Robert C. Bailey and his wife, Susan Goddard Bailey; three grandchildren; Emily Grace, Leslie Page, and Sarah Elizabeth McAdams; two brothers; Samuel Garwood Bailey, James Carl Bailey and a sister, Glenda Frances Bailey Brown. The Bailey Family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 pm Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at Hinshaw Hall, in the Friends Home at Guilford, 925 New Garden Rd., Greensboro, NC. A memorial service will be conducted 11:00 am Wednesday, June 2, at Saint Andrews Episcopal Church in Greensboro officiated by the Right Reverend Michael Curry and The Reverend Sealy Cross. Inurnment will follow at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension, Advance, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Episcopal Church of the Ascension, 183 Fork Bixby Road, Advance, NC 27006 or to the Friends Home at Guilford, 925 New Garden Road, Greensboro, NC 27410. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is assisting the Bailey Family.
