David Wagoner

David Lee Wagoner (82) died peacefully on February 20th, 2021.
David was born October 5th,1938 in Elkhart, Indiana. He is survived by wife Janice, son Eric (Jan) and daughter Shelly (Richard).  He was a loving grandfather to Tyler (Mary), and Lesley (Kaitlin).
He dedicated 40+years to working in pharmaceuticals.  The last 15 years of his career took him overseas.  He brought back great stories, souvenirs, and matchbooks from each trip for his family.
He and Janice raised their children in Norwich, NY.  During his time there he was a city councilman, volunteer firefighter, certified volunteer EMT, swimming official and football referee.
He was a proud American and active citizen- serving Governor George Pataki on behalf of Upstate NY for a national military academy candidate selections committee.
A lifelong musician- David played the tuba in community band in Norwich, NY and Brevard, NC.  He and wife Janice shared a love for music and sang in church choir throughout their marriage.  David was an active elder in the Presbyterian Church.
David was a longstanding Notre Dame sports fan. He also loved to watch his children and grandchildren’s sport events and rarely missed a home game.  He was a generous supporter of their respective booster clubs.
David loved animals and children.  His eyes lit up when talked about his great-grandchildren (Reed, Lane, and Will).  He consistently had a 4-legged companion(s) throughout his life.
He will be remembered warmly by his family for his jovial laugh, long-winded stories, appetite for knowledge, enduring love for Emmett Kelly (and impersonations), and love of Country-Western.
