David Blease Sandel

Oak Ridge- Mr. David Blease Sandel, 83, passed away Wednesday August 14, 2024, at his residence. He was born in Great Falls, SC., the son of James David “J.D.” and Ivey Beckham Sandel. David was a member of Triad Baptist Church and served his country in the U.S. Navy. He retired from IBM after 32 years’ service and enjoyed golfing, riding bicycles and singing. David was a family person who loved to be around his family and was also a loving, caring person who loved to go places. He is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Lizzie Sandel; a son David B. Sandel, Jr. (Sandy) of Kernersville; a daughter, Donna Kay Johnson (David) of Myrtle Beach, SC.; a brother Ken Sandel (Patti) of Nashville, TN.; a sister, Jan Sharpe (Wally) of Charleston, SC.; five grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and many friends. A Celebration of David’s Life will be held at 2 PM Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Triad Baptist Church with Pastor Rob Decker officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at the church. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
