David Clifton Reavis

Mr. David Clifton Reavis, 71, of Pfafftown died Saturday, April 14, 2012. He was born November 5, 1940 in Winston-Salem, the son of the late, H. Clarence and Fannie Cundiff Reavis. Mr. Reavis was a member of Gray High School, Class of 1960. He proudly served his country in the US Air Force from 1960 until 1964 during the Cuban Crisis. He then met the love of his life, Becky and they were married April 10, 1966. He retired from R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company following 35 years as a machinist at 91 Machine Shop. David loved people and enjoyed doing things with and for others. As a 20 year member of Calvary Baptist Church, he found God's calling, serving the children and their families at Calvary Southside through the FROG (Fully Relying of God) Program In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Wayne Reavis and Homer Reavis and a nephew Kent Haneline. Survivors include his wife, Becky Davis Reavis of the home; two daughters, Angela Messer and husband, Jason of Lewisville and Andrea Reavis of Pfafftown. He was a very special Pa-Paw to his granddaughter, Aimee Messer. Also surviving are a sister, Robinell Haneline and husband, Philip of Kernersville; several nieces and nephews; special friends, John and Pat Stewart and Charlie and Violet Smith; and his lifelong best friend, Henry Idol. A funeral service celebrating David's life will be conducted Thursday, April 19, 2012 at 10:30 AM at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Hardy, Rev. Abel Duliep, Rev. Kent Oviatt, and Rev. Max Furr officiating. Mr. Reavis will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends in the main dining room of the church following the service. A graveside service will follow the visitation at 1:00 PM at Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons. The family requests no flowers, but memorials be considered for Calvary South Side FROG Program, Calvary Baptist Church, 5000 Country Club Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27104. Visitation:
The family will receive friends in the main dining room of the church following the church service and before the graveside service.
