David Wayne Pennell, 61, of Winston Salem, NC passed away peacefully and unexpectedly at home, Friday, March 24, 2023. David was born in Winston Salem on June 22, 1961, to Betty Pennell and Jerry Pennell. He graduated from Parkland Sr. High School, class of 1979. He then furthered his education at Forsyth Tech to become a plumber. He owned and operated Pennell’s Plumbing and Repair for many years. David enjoyed fishing, bowling and golf with his friends. He loved watching the Kansas City Chiefs and was able to enjoy their recent victory at this year’s Super Bowl. David also enjoyed NASCAR racing and was a fan of Chase Elliott and the former driver Bill Elliott. He loved his family and friends and had a giving heart. David was of the Baptist faith.

David will be deeply missed but is finally at peace. He now sits at the Lord’s Table with Mom (Betty), composing the next adventure of his eternal life.

David was preceded in death by his parents, and Rodney Gatewood;  and a granddaughter Ryleigh. He is survived by his sister Pam Tesh which was his sole caretaker for the past 5 years. Also, a brother Wayne Pennell (Christen); uncle, Grady Throckmorton; a son Jason Pennell (Jessica); stepdaughters Kim and Tiffany (Tim); grandchildren Ashton, Abby, Adeline, Hailey, and Bryson. Also, still married to wife, Connie.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, April 13, 2023, at Parklawn Memorial Park at 2730 Peters Creek Pkwy in Winston Salem with Rev. Jason Holley officiating.
