David Elsworth Nichols

Mr. David Elsworth Nichols, 86, passed away Friday evening, April 2, 2010 at Hospice of Cleveland County in Shelby, NC. He was born in Forsyth County on September 10, 1923 to the late Everette and Bernice Nichols. Mr. Nichols married his loving wife, Esther Brown Nichols on March 3, 1947. He proudly served his country during WWII in the United States Army Air Force. Mr. Nichols retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company in 1983. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Esther Brown Nichols in 1999 and a sister, Emily Moorefield. Mr. Nichols is survived by a daughter, Rebecca Bullington and husband John of Kings Mountain, NC, a son, Rev. Brent Nichols and wife Lynn of Pomaria, SC, five grandchildren, Matthew Bullington, Jenny Bullington, David Nichols, Andrew Nichols and Elizabeth Nichols and a sister, Jayne Reimers of Houston, TX. Funeral services for Mr. Nichols will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at Bethania Moravian Church with Rev. Wayne Byerly and Rev. Charles Fishel officiating. Burial will follow in Rural Hall Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Bethania Moravian from 1:30- 2:30 prior to the service on Wednesday.
