David Morris Nance

David Morris Nance, 79, of Belmont, died September 10, 2009 at his residence. A native of Greensboro, NC, he was born July 21, 1930 in Guilford County to the late William Clark Nance and Ethel Burch Nance. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Ward of Miami, FL and Rachel Rumley of Greensboro, NC and a brother, William Marcus Nance of Greensboro, NC. Mr. Nance retired as Senior Vice-President from Barclays American Financial Corporation in 1988 and subsequently was partner in Metrolina Financial Services in Belmont, NC from which he retired in 1995. He was a graduate of Bessemer High School in Greensboro, NC, attended East Carolina University, and was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Gwen Curtis Nance of Belmont; two sons, William Clark Nance of York, SC and Curtis Morris Nance of Winston-Salem, NC; two granddaughters, Abbie and Carlie Nance; a sister, Rebecca Karas and husband Angelo of Greensboro, NC and a brother, Thomas Nance and wife Barbara of Richmond, VA.; a sister-in-law, Pat Perini of Markham, Ontario; Nieces, Donna Nance, Diane Ammons, Kris Griffin, and Nance Meeker. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am, Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at East Belmont Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeff Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
