David Preston Mecum

WINSTON-SALEM-Mr. David Preston Mecum, 50, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Friday, May 23, 2014 at his residence. David was born on October 10, 1963 in Forsyth County to John Baker Mecum, Jr. and Sarah Joyce Bray Mecum. He was the owner of Mecum Electrical. David was an avid outdoorsman. He especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a kind, hard-working man whose heart was full of love for others, especially his daughters Brittney and Isabella and grandson, Roland. He will be eternally missed until we all meet him again. Mr. Mecum was preceded in death by a son, John Thomas Mecum. Mr. Mecum is survived by two daughters, Brittney Mecum Ward (Trent) and Isabella Mecum, both of Winston-Salem; one grandson, Roland Ward of Winston-Salem; David's first wife and mother of Brittney, Tina Mecum of East Bend, NC; David's second wife and mother of Isabella, Donna Mecum of Virginia Beach, VA; father, John Baker Mecum, Jr. (Pattie) of Greensboro, NC; mother, Sarah Bray Rainwater of Louisiana; girlfriend, Elisabeth Ibraham of Winston-Salem; eight sisters and four brothers; and his best buddy, Snowball. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Terry Rausch officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, May 30, 2014 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home, C/O David Mecum, 3315 Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 as a final tribute to David.
