David Manson

Mr. David Lever Manson, 67, of Courtney, NC passed away on 12 December after a courageous year and half long battle with cancer.   David moved with his family to Winston-Salem in 1955 and grew up in Ardmore. He was son of the late Earle L and Louise Lever Manson. David is survived by brother, Lowry, and sister-in-law, Donna, of Raleigh, his former wife, Cathy Manson, of Mocksville, his two nephews, Scott and Brian, and their families in Houston, TX and Edmond, OK, and his loyal canine companion, 550.  After serving in the Navy, he started Wachovia Woodworks where he built and refinished furniture.  David was very creative and enjoyed drawing under the pen name Zolt Freeman.  He had a carefree spirit and countless friends who will miss him.  David routinely watched the news in the evening because it made him feel that he hadn’t had such a bad day after all.   The family is appreciative of the excellent care given by doctors and nurses at the VA in Kernersville and Salisbury; from his good friends especially Bob, Dawn and Brad; and from the staff at Mountain Valley Hospice Home.   Private funeral services will be held at Westlawn Gardens of Memory at Clemmons.   A memorial gathering will be held at West Bend Winery at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice Home or charity of your choice.
