David William Bill" Byrd Jr.

Mr. David William ""Bill"" Byrd Jr., 62, passed away unexpectedly May 20, 2010. He was born in Surry County on January 16, 1948 to David William Byrd Sr. and Lorene Carpenter Byrd. Bill served his country proudly in the United States Navy during Vietnam while stationed in Maine. He had retired from Flow Cadillac in Winston- Salem and always had love of cars and motorcycles. Bill loved to work in his yard and garden, watch NASCAR races and was learning to cook. He is survived by his daughter, Anagela Creighton and husband David of Bethania, two grandchildren, Travis and Victoria and was expecting his first great-granddaughter. Bill is also survived by his parents, David and Lorene Byrd of Bethania, a sister, Cheryl Penn and husband Bob of Winston-Salem, a brother, Richard Byrd of Bethania, two nieces, Rebecca Kaiser and Jessie Appier, a great-niece, Emma Kaiser and his loving girlfriend, Susan. Funeral services for Bill will be conducted 6:00 p.m. Saturday, May 22, 2010 at Hayworth-Miller Chapel in Rural Hall with Rev. Jeff Clawson officiating. The family will receive friends directly following the service at the funeral. Burial will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 24, 2010 at Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall with military rites provided by American Legion Post #290 in King. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to, Vienna Baptist Church, 5729 Yadkinville Rd., Pfafftown, NC 27040. (Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel)
