Mr. David Glenn Bissette, 86, of Winston-Salem, died Monday, April 12, 2021, at Novant Hospital. He was born April 18, 1934, in Spring Hope, NC, to the late Rella and Joseph Bissette. He attended Springhope High School and graduated from NC State University in 1956 with a degree in civil engineering. Mr. Bissette began a career with RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company in Winston-Salem in 1956 where he worked until he was called to serve in the US Navy for two years as a submarine weapons specialist. After completing his Naval tour, he continued working for RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company in Winston-Salem, NC, until his retirement after 32 years of service. Mr. Bissette was an active member of Ardmore Baptist Church for more than 60 years where he served in many different roles: Deacon, Chairman of the Deacons, Chair of the Building Committee, 5th grade and Chinese Language Sunday School teacher, refugee sponsor, missions team member, and many others. Mr. Bissette is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mavis Bissette; son, Steve, and his wife, Donna; and son, Philip, and his wife, Amy. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Michael and his wife, Emily; Matthew; Randall; Erin; Daniel; and Emily. He was loved by all who knew him and will be missed but not forgotten. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, May 16, 2021, at Ardmore Baptist Church. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Ardmore Baptist Church, C/O Missions, 501 Miller St., Winston-Salem, NC 27103. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is serving the family of Mr. Bissette.
