David Sherman Bassett

Mr. David Sherman Bassett, 85, passed away Friday, September 13, 2024, at Atrium Wake Forest Baptist Health. He was born on July 9, 1939, in Massachusetts to the late Sherman and Evelyn Mackilligan Bassett. Mr. Bassett was a member of Ardmore Baptist Church. He enjoyed golfing and water skiing while his health permitted. Mr. Bassett was a volunteer at the Shriner Hospital and Atrium Wake Forest Baptist Health. He served as the Past Master at the Masonic Lodge in Norwood, Massachusetts and was a Shriner. Surviving is his wife of 58 years, Martha Fisher Bassett; two sons, Christopher D. Bassett (Karen) and Jeffrey D. Bassett (Melissa); four grandchildren, Gaige Bassett, Riley Bassett, Sierra Bassett, and Brianna Copley (Chase); two great-grandchildren, Brynleigh Bassett and Colt Copley; also surviving is a brother-in-law, Wayne Fisher and a sister-in-law, Rebecca Fisher. A visitation will be held from 6-8 PM Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
