David Anderson Basham, 76, of Winston Salem, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. David was born September 4, 1939, in Lego, WV to Lenzie Vernon Basham & Gladie Clark Basham. David retired in 1991 after working 30 years in trucking with McLean Trucking Company and Roadway Motor Freight. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Kenneth; sisters, Linda Mae and Alice. David is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jean Lee Basham of the home; his son, David Anderson Basham, Jr. (Debbie) of Clemmons, NC; the joys of his life, grandchildren, Jamie Erin Basham of Davidson, NC and Michael David Basham of Winston Salem, NC; brother, Vernon Basham of Winston Salem; sisters, Shelby Keaton and Mary Grose, both of Cool Ridge, WV. A graveside service will be held at 2pm on Sunday, July 31, at Parklawn Memorial Park in Winston Salem with Rev. Benny Sprouse officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 30 from 6pm-8pm at Hayworth-Miller on Silas Creek Parkway in Winston Salem. The family is asking that in lieu of flowers, please make memorials to Hospice & Palliative Care Centers of Winston Salem, 101 Hospice Lane Winston Salem, NC 27103.
