Darlene Gregory Rayburn

Mrs. Darlene Gregory Rayburn, 68, died peacefully on September 1, 2011 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston Salem, NC, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on January 10, 1943 in Rowan County, KY to the late Loyd and Lula Mae Eldridge Gregory. She was of the Baptist faith. Darlene was a loyal and loving wife, mother, and grandmother extraordinaire. She loved to garden. She loved birds. She inspired her children and gave them the wings to fly. She loved for her family to gather around the piano and play music. Darlene's joy was bringing people together. She was a member of the Homemakers Club, the Cattlemen's Association, and the Gateway Twirlers, all of Montgomery County, KY. Darlene is survived by her husband David Lee Rayburn of Advance, NC; two daughters Angela Barrington of Mobile, AL and Anita Klein of Advance, NC; two granddaughters Hannah Klein and Ava Klein both of Advance, NC; six siblings Ronald Gregory of Jamestown, OH, Gary Gregory of Jamestown, OH, Ennis Gregory of Jeffersonville, KY, Earl Gregory of Clyde, OH, James Gregory of Morehead, KY, and Amy Wright of Nicholasville, KY. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday September 10th, from 1-4 pm at Herald and Stewart Home for funerals in Mt. Sterling, KY. The family would like to give a special thanks to the doctors and staff of the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem, NC.
