Darlene Ceder Brandenburg

Mrs. Darlene Marie Brandenburg, 89, of Clemmons, NC, passed away on Sunday, June 18, 2017, at Forsyth Medical Center. Darlene was born in Genoa, Nebraska on July 1, 1927, to the late Frank Ceder and Kathryn Stickney Ceder. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Clemmons. Darlene was a passionate golfer, having scored two holes-in-one during her playing days. She was a member of Cedarbrook Country Club in State Road, NC where she played in the women's golf league. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Brandenburg and her brother, Ray Ceder. Darlene is survived by her children, Michael Brandenburg (Janene) of Vienna, VA, John Brandenburg (Debbie) of St. Charles, MO, Mary Lukes of Clemmons, NC, and Julie McDowell of Clemmons, NC; ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; one sister, Leona Wolfson of Omaha, NE; and one brother, Dave Ceder of Monroe, NE. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 23, 2017, at Holy Family Catholic Church with Fr. Peter Nouck officiating. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 pm on Friday at Crestwood Memorial Gardens in State Road, NC. The family will receive friends from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Thursday, June 22, 2017, at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Autoimmunity Research Foundation, 3423 Hill Canyon Ave., Thousand Oaks, CA 91360.
