WINSTON-SALEM - Darla Jean Kendrick, 50, died Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center. Darla was born on February 13, 1960 in Columbus, Ohio to Lee and Joann Kendrick. A graduate of Salem College, Darla was employed as a Social Studies Teacher at East Forsyth High School and also taught World History for NC Virtual Public Schools. Darla previously taught at Davie and Parkland High Schools. Darla was predeceased by her father. Surviving are three children, Sarah Elizabeth Jarvis, Mary Katherine Jarvis and John Thomas Jarvis, all of Mocksville; her mother, Joann Kendrick, of Hamlin, WV; one brother, Thomas Kendrick (wife, Paula) of Wilmington, DE. She will be loved and missed by her partner and best friend, Elizabeth Cox. A memorial service will be held 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 15, 2011 , at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home - Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Greg Little officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, January 14 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
