Daniel "Dan" Gold

Mr. Daniel “Dan” Eugene Gold, 77, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center. He was born on September 1, 1945, in Cleveland County to Griffin Bell and Ellie Campbell Gold. For work, Dan was a master diesel mechanic and worked for Carolina Freight. He retired after almost 40 years of faithful service. He loved to play poker and enjoyed traveling to different casinos. Dan was a softball and baseball umpire for many years. He loved sports and was an avid Miami Dolphins and New York Yankee fan but his favorite thing to do was watch his grandchildren play sports. He also enjoyed going to different auctions and flea markets. He was a loving husband, “daddy”, “Pa-pa”, brother, and friend who will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, Dan was preceded in death by his grandson, Chandler Daniel Shores and two brothers, James and Robert Gold.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Patricia “Pat” Smith Gold; two daughters, Kimberly Gold Shores and Kandice Gold Hendricks (husband, Scott); two grandsons, Dylan Scott Hendricks (wife, Jessica) and Zachary Krue Shores (wife, Kristen); two sisters, Elizabeth Revels and Margaret Cummings; three brothers, Bill Gold (wife, Pat), Doug Gold, and Phil Gold (wife, Diana); numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his granddogs, especially his special girl, Isabella “Bella”Ashe.

A memorial service for Dan will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at First Baptist Church in Kernersville at 401 Oakhurst Street, Kernersville, NC 27284, with Pastor Anita Lafloon officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until 10:45 am prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trellis Supportive Care at 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or to the American Cancer Society at PO BOX 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.  Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
