Mr. Daniel Clay Beard, Jr., 70, of Winston-Salem died Friday, February 10, 2012 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born February 26, 1941 in Durham, the son of the late Daniel Clay Beard, Sr. and Nina Ellen Sturdivant Beard. Mr. Beard was a member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church where he sang in the Men's Choir ""The Group"". He was an engineer with the NC Department of Transportation for 35 years and served the National Guard. Survivors include his wife, Cherry B. Beard of the home; two sisters-in-law, Joyce Kennedy of Beaufort and Ann Marler of Belews Creek and two brothers-in-law, Jack Burnett and wife, Joyce and Ted Burnett and wife, Ruth of Franklin. The funeral service will be conducted Monday at 11:00 AM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Dr. Cecil R. Cave, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior the service at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
