Dan Monroe Ashe passed away on January 26, 2018 at Forsyth Medical Center. He graduated from Gray High School and the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. He received his Master's Degree from the University of Southern California. He was a talented and gifted musician. His great passion was playing French horn in orchestras and on recordings and movie soundtracks. He loved classical music, jazz, foreign cars, and San Francisco. He was an avid fan of the San Francisco Giants, the San Francisco 49ers, and University of Southern California football. "Dan the Man" was admired for his great sense of humor. He was preceded in death by his parents, Zeb and Carrie Ashe, and father-in-law, Frank Cook. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Debra Cook Ashe; sister, Brenda Mason (Stan) of Greenacres, Florida; mother-in-law, Bettie Cook; brother-in-law, David Cook (Donna); niece Taylor Cook; two special Canadian sons, Vincent and Francois Theriault. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Forsyth Humane Society, 4881 Country Club Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27104 or to Sunnyside Ministry, 319 Haled Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27127.
