Dahlia Meadows

KERNERSVILLE – Dahlia Elizabeth Parnell Meadows, 96, passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Dahlia was born on September 21, 1925 in Forsyth County to Clewell Burton and Georgia Dillon Parnell. She worked for Indera Mills and Glenn Junior High School, and was a talented seamstress, sewing for many family members and others, creating many custom pieces from wedding dresses to men’s sports coats. Dahlia also worked in tobacco and loved growing flowers, but her main job and passion was being the best mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

In addition to her parents, Dahlia was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Raymond Meadows; a daughter, Constance Elaine Meadows; a son, Mark Raymond Meadows; a granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Martin; two brothers, Harold Parnell and Don Parnell; and one sister, Melba Gregory.

Surviving are her daughters, Tonya Meadows Mabe and Lori Richards (Wayne); a son, Marklan Meadows; six grandchildren, Marissa Mabe, Ashtyn Greene (Ryan), Courtney Mabe (Scotty Martin) , Hilary Hardy (Zack), Ethan Richards (Brittany), and Grant Richards (Hailee); seven great grandchildren, Peyton Mabe, Dakota Greene, Brooke Martin, Hadleigh Hardy, Lily Hardy, Penelope Richards, and Leevi Richards; one brother, Charles Parnell (Elizabeth); a sister-in-law, Myrtle Debusk; and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, August 5, 2022 at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens with Chaplain Steve Gregory officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 . Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
