Cynthia Cann Lightsey, a kind-hearted and loving individual, peacefully departed this life on July 7, 2023, at Hinkle Hospice House. She was born in Winston Salem, North Carolina on January 25, 1943.
Cynthia led a fulfilling life as an Manager for Sara Lee and a Clerical Assistant at an Accounting Firm. With her exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, she made a significant impact in her career. Her dedication and commitment to her work were truly admirable, earning the respect of both colleagues and clients alike. Cynthia very much enjoyed all the many people she met through work and loved to keep in touch with them.
Beyond her professional achievements, Cynthia was a woman of many passions and interests. She found solace in the simple pleasures of life like listening to music, reading, singing, playing the piano, and spending time with her grandchildren and her dogs. Music held a special place in her heart as it brought joy to her soul.
Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents James and Stella Cann, husband John H. Lightsey, brother Lynn Cann, and sister Judy Seivers.
She leaves behind cherished memories for fiancé Tom Montgomery; Daughter Elizabeth Lesage (Jon); Two Grandchildren Evan Lesage and Kylie Lesage; Brother-in-law Jerry Seivers; Sister-in-law Cathey Cann; Niece Julie Hudspeth (David); Nephews John Seivers (Cathy), Cary Cann (Roxane), and Grant Cann, as well as a host of cousins and friends.
To honor Cynthia's memory, a visitation will be held on Friday July 14, 2023, from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. This will be followed by a funeral service at the same location at 1pm. Cynthia will then be laid to rest at Parklawn Memorial Park.
Cynthia Cann Lightsey's warmth and compassion knew no bounds. She touched the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her. The legacy she leaves behind is one of love, kindness, and unwavering devotion. She always thought of others throughout her life and was always going out of her way with much kindness, small gestures and always loved to sit and talk with others. She loved to stay in touch with friends and family and loved to hear how they were doing. While our hearts break at her passing, let us find solace in knowing that Cynthia's spirit will forever shine brightly in our cherished memories.
