Curtis "Curt" Bame

Colfax – Mr. Curtis “Curt” Calvin Bame, 88, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 4, 2021 at his residence. He was born on October 12, 1932 in Randolph County, to Lee Columbus and Beatrice Barnhart Bame. Curt was a faithful member of Smith Grove Baptist Church where he served as deacon and choir director. He also served as a volunteer firefighter for Colfax Fire Department. Curt loved to play golf and to spend time with his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, Curt was preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth Shields and Shirley Barnhill; and three brothers, Lee C. Bame, Jr., RT Harrelson, Jr., and Murphy Bame.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 61 years, Betty Welborn Bame; two sons, Joel Bame (wife, Joanne) and Chris Bame (wife, Laura); three grandchildren, Jessica, Colter, and Connar Bame; two sisters, Annie Hutchens, and Donna Caulder; and two brothers, Fred Bame and Harold Bame.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to High Point Fire Department Station 26 and to Colfax Fire Department Station 16 for their help many times during Curt’s illness.

With social distancing observed and masks requested, a private graveside service for Curtis will be held at Smith Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Bruce Freeman officiating. Due to restrictions for public gatherings, there will be no formal visitation. Friends are welcome to come, without the family present, to view Mr. Bame as well as sign the register from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to AuthoraCare Hospice in Greensboro at 2500 Summit Ave, Greensboro, NC 27405 or to Smith Grove Baptist Church at 2707 Sandy Ridge Rd, Colfax, NC 27235.
