Mr. Curtis ""Speedy"" Allen Spach, 95, of Lewisville passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at his home. Mr. Spach was born in Forsyth County on November 15, 1919 to Curtis and Mary Alspaugh Spach, Sr.. Mr. Spach joined the U.S. Marines the day following the Pearl Harbor attack. He was in the 1st Marine Division L. co. 3rd bn 5th reg. and he landed in the first wave on Guadalcanal. Mr. Spach was an active member of the American Legion, Post 522, as well as the Greater Greensboro Detachment Marine Corps League. He retired from Central Motor Lines in 1976. Following retirement, Mr. Spach and his wife, moved to High Rock Lake. He truly loved his time at the lake boating and spending time on the water. Mr. Spach enjoyed speaking at schools to students about his experiences in the Marines, as well as sharing his Marine memorabilia which was displayed as a museum in his home. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Curtis Spach III and Brion Phillip Spach. Mr. Spach is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Alice Miller Spach; a daughter, Roslyn Johnson of Lewisville; a son, Rodney Johnson of Lewisville; a sister, Sis Nyswonger of Winston-Salem; several nieces and nephews; and a loving companion, his dog Lily. A graveside service will be held 2:00 pm Friday, April 3, 2015 at Parklawn Memorial Park with the Chaplain Michael Tomlinson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 pm to 8 pm Thursday evening at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel. The family would like to send a special thanks to Hospice and Palliative Care Center, especially Donna Wilson, for their loving care of Speedy.
