NEEDHAM WINSTON-SALEM, Mr. Curtis Dewey Needham, 78, of Old Hollow Road., passed away unexpectedly Friday, April 17, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center. Curtis was a native of Surry County and was a resident of Winston-Salem most of his life. He was an active member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church for 55 years where he served as a deacon, Sunday School Teacher, member of the choir, men's quartet and members of the men's gospel group ""The Group"" Curtis enjoyed an active life by playing golf and working part-time as an automobile salesman at Flow Motors, both of which he greatly enjoyed. Curtis was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey Verlin and Cora Belle Needham of Surry County: Sisters, Christine Lepore, Carlyne Stallings, Carol Bray, Connie East and brother, Carl Needham. Surviving Curtis Needham is his wife, Mary Henri Newman Needham of 56 years of the home, his two daughters, Pattie Gayle and Vann Murray of Pinehurst. Terri Lynn and Danny Branch of Rural Hall. The grandchildren include, Kevin Vann Murray, Jodie Gayle Murray, Cassie Meredith Branch and Katie Lynn Branch. The family will receive friends at Mineral Springs Baptist Church of Akron Drive, Winston-Salem today, Sunday April 19th at 2:00 pm followed by the funeral service at 4:00 pm with the Dr. Gus Thomas, Dr. Cecil Cave and Rev. Jim Cohn officiating. Burial will follow in Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall. Memorials may be made to Baptist Childrens Home of North Carolina P O Box 338 Thomasville, NC 27360. Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall is assisting the Needham Family.
