Crystal Jeanette Smith passed away on September 12, 2022, while at home with her mother, Iris Styers Smith.
She was preceded in death by her father, Clyde Edward Smith Jr., her paternal grandparents, Clyde Edward Smith Sr. and Emily deSilvia Smith, and her maternal grandparents, Odeaus Ray Styers and Inez Cromer Styers.
She is survived by her brother, Barry Edward Smith and his wife Vivian, her sister Maria Anne Smith, 2 nephews Brandon Tillman Mundy and Caleb Edward Smith, and her niece Morgan Smith Warren.
Crystal was born on October 21, 1964, to her parents Clyde Edward Smith Jr. and Iris Styers Smith. She attended Hickory City Schools in North Carolina and graduated from Hickory High School in 1983. She attended the University of North Carolina at Asheville graduating with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications and Journalism.
Crystal loved animals, especially dogs and horses. She trained mixed-breed dogs in obedience, winning 1st and 2nd places in several competitions in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. She was also very talented in cooking, baking, sewing and stitchery. She loved to share her talents with others!
She will certainly be missed by all of those who loved her, especially her family! The Smith Family wishes to thank all of the staff at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital for the many years of care provided to Crystal. Instead of donating flowers, please donate to the Cancer Center at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital.
The Smith Family will receive friends and family at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home on Silas Creek Parkway for visitation from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm on Saturday, September 17, 2022. The Burial will take place at the Gardens of Memory in Walkertown at 12:30 pm on Saturday, September 17, 2022.
